Cross Creek Chinchillas was founded in 2003.
I first became interested in these incredible
little rodents from the Andes Mountains of South America during
hurrricane season of 2003. My dogs caught what we thought at first
was someone's pet sugar glider. Upon closer examination, we learned
it was a Southern Flying Squirrel. We took it in and bought a cage
and some food for it while we located a wildlife rehabilitator.
Unfortunetly, before we could find one, the squirrel passed away
from internal injuries.
So, there we were with this big, new, empty cage.
My fiance made the suggestion I do some research on ferrets and
chinchillas. We had both been interested in the past on getting one
or the other. After doing extensive online research, we decided we
would like to get a chinchilla. My first two chins were purchased at
a pet store, and their crazy little antics caused me to fall
completely in love with them. I've continued my research utilizing
internet forums with members worldwide who both own and breed chins.
Since my first two were petstore animals and have no pedigrees or
background information, they were never used for breeding, however,
I have invested a lot of time and money purchasing top quality
animals from some of the best hobby breeders and top ranchers to be
used in my own breeding program.
My breeding herd consists of Color Section
Champions, Color Phase Champions, and First Place animals from such
breeders as Ralph Shoots, Cedarview Farms Exotics, Dirty South
Chinchillas, Becky West, Furry Animals Oh My! and many more.
Currently we are breeding for all color phases including TOV in
Standard Gray, Beige, Whites, Ebonies, Black Velvets, and Violets.
All our kits come with complete pedigrees, feed, alfalfa hay cubes
and Blue Cloud dust. Please see our for sale page to view what we
have available .
